For the past 30 years, our intake of Cadets has been key to our growth and success as a business. Our Cadet Programme also contributes to our high retention rate – on average, our Senior Officers have been with us for 15 years.
Our Cadet Programme
Having restarted the programme in 2021, we are currently accepting 18 Cadets: four engine Cadets, four deck Cadets, and 10 electrical Cadets.

Cadet training openings are managed through our Fleet Management office in Bergen, Norway.

Being a seafarer on a Gearbulk vessel trading worldwide is a role like no other.
At Gearbulk we recognise the importance of well-trained sea staff. Our cadets, who work across engine, deck and electrical disciplines, are key to the company’s ongoing success. This is why we recruit and train cadets as part of our comprehensive career development programme.
Our Cadet Programme gives you the opportunity to develop your skills and learn the shipping industry from the inside. You will get a lot of support from the company. For your part, you will need to be driven and logical, with an interest in living and working at sea. You will be a team player with a laser-sharp focus on safety – for yourself, your workmates and the ship.
